About Hibiscus

The first time I arrived in Mexico, I flew in on the redeye flight from Los Angeles, it was five in the morning and Mexico City was still blanketed by the dark. I arrived to my hotel without a word of Spanish, bleary eyed and disorientated. As the sun rose that day back in 2012, so to did my curiosity about this country.

12 years later, I am still discovering new beautiful curiosities about this country who has welcomed me so warmly.

Hailing from Australia it’s difficult to explain just how one finds themself on the other side of the world for such a long time. I have traveled all over the world from Thailand to France, from Indonesia to Italy, from Turkey to Vietnam and the United States and Canada. Throughout my journeys I have stayed in small cabins on the beach with one light bulb, fancy 5 star resorts, hip reimagined motels in San Francisco and a tent at campground at times, so I know the importance and treasure that a host, a point of contact, a concierge can be. To be welcomed, to be advised with insider information, the personal touch, is what made
